  Margo Baker

Margo Baker grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana. At age seven she discovered her love of art and knew she would one day become an artist. Through constant sketching and doodling she continues to develop a fresh and whimsical style that permeates her art and her character. She received her formal art education from USL having the opportunity to study under a mélange of talent, expertise, and creative guidance. She feeds her artistic craving by surrounding herself with interesting people, collecting a miscellany of meaningful possessions, and creating art with her sons in her studio (lovingly nick-named “The Mama House” by her youngest son.) She enjoys the time she spends observing her children making art and sees it as the most basic and satisfying art education.

Her purpose and inspiration are gathered not only from children’s artwork but are impacted by the multi-hued culture of her home, Louisiana. Her distinctive style and various layers of paper and paint are a telling of the curious hodgepodge of customs, histories, and backdrop of South Louisiana and its people.
